National Public Radio

Aly was the first intern for National Public Radio’s Education Desk, joining the team its inaugural week in May 2014. During her time there, she provided support to reporters, producers and editors while focusing on original work as well. One of her articles, The Teacher Dropout Crisis, received over 100,000 unique hits and 500 comments in one weekend. She interviewed everyone from college students to accounting professionals to education policy makers.

When not writing, interviewing, pitching, researching or editing, Aly spent her time at NPR recording and mixing audio. She also assisted curating and monitoring NPR Ed’s twitter page, for an audience of over 11,000 followers. In all, content she created and assisted with was available to over 1.5 million unique visitors per month.
